Román pro pokročilé is a comedy about life after divorce for men cut off by an angry ex-wife from home, bed and bank account, and about what divorce does to their morals and self-esteem. Rudolf (Marek Vašut), a charming, elegant man of the world, has to swap big-city luxury for a country hotel he owns with his dissolute brother Arnošt (Miroslav Etzler) after an ill-judged affair ends his marriage. Rudolf is torn between settling down in a quiet, monogamous relationship and the temptations that Arnošt, a notorious drinker and womaniser, serves up every day. As if the hangovers were not punishment enough, the brothers also have to deal with the tiresome and unscrupulous owner of the neighbouring hotel (Jitka Čvančarová), on whom they have somehow declared war. Thanks to the patient efforts of hotel receptionist Nikola (Berenika Kohoutová), Rudolf does try a monogamous relationship, and to everyone’s surprise it turns serious. But the world is small and lies are soon found out, especially when Rudolf’s ex-wife Marie (Vanda Hybnerová) plays deus ex machina. And Rudolf and Marie’s eccentric son Bohdan (Vincent Navrátil) spares his parents nothing.
