The Enchanted Cave (Zakletá jeskyně, Slovak original Zakliata jaskyňa) is a fairy tale about a miraculous cave full of treasures: salt and precious rubies. The miners may take as much salt as they need, but nothing may leave the ruby chamber at the heart of the cave, and whoever takes a ruby is cursed. Even so, Lena, the village headman’s daughter, cannot resist the gem, despite her sister Ada’s warnings. Her reckless act sets off events that upset the fragile balance of the whole kingdom and bring the curse down on Lena herself. Only someone with a good heart can free her, by returning the stolen ruby to the heart of the cave. But the ruby now adorns the crown of the wicked Queen Berta, and the only ones who might manage it are her two stepsons, Princes Zach and Cyril, who are too proud and vain to care about anyone else’s misfortune. Only when their stepmother strips them of everything and they have to depend on others do they understand that it is their duty to fight for justice for all. Their reward is finding their own courage, kindness and capacity for sacrifice, and true love.
