Ženy a život is a comedy about Eliška, a nice girl, perhaps too nice: she lacks sharp elbows and has far too much blind faith. Her free-spirited sister Ilona, who will stop at nothing, has energy to spare. The two throw themselves into building a family business that runs a little haphazardly, much like Eliška’s relationship with a smug, popular sportsman. “Is that boy serious about you? It’s not easy finding a husband once you’re past thirty,” her pragmatic mother warns. So Eliška needs to work out whether she is going out with Petr, or Petr is also going out with her, or whether to find a husband elsewhere. Family and friends all get involved, because one person’s problem is everyone’s problem. Eliška fights for Petr, Richard for Eliška, Klára for Richard, and Mum and Dad for everyone’s happiness. Sometimes chance helps, sometimes a couple of slaps, and sometimes it is enough to stop working on a relationship with someone who is not actually in one with you.
